Amanda and Brando
Amanda adopted Brando from Pasadena Pet Motel in 2008. Since the adoption, Brando and Amanda have earned Brando’s Canine Good Citizen award, passed the test to become a registered therapy dog team with Therapy Dogs International, and are currently working towards his first working dog titles with Tampa Bay Working Dog Club. Amanda is a CGC evaluator. She is also a Member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and a Member of the Tampa Bay Working Dog Club. She is also a handler of Pawsibilities Registered Therapy Dogs.
Amanda is actively involved with the Humane Society of Tampa Bay as a Dog Companion and a member of the Program Committee. Amanda also works with one of the HSTB’s most memorable adoptees, Casper, who made headlines as the victim of a severe animal cruelty and neglect case.
As a therapy dog team, Amanda and Brando focus on helping children in the community. Amanda and Brando regularly visit a shelter for women and their children who are victims of domestic violence. Amanda and Brando are also founding members of Pawsibilities Registered Therapy Dogs, a non-profit organization that provides therapy dog teams to support minor victim witnesses as they go through the court process. Amanda and Brando can be seen around the Criminal Justice Center in Clearwater, bringing smiles and tail wags to our criminal courts.
Amanda’s family includes Brando and Viva- her two German Shepherd Dogs, Toasty-Bear- her 10 year old mutt, LaLa the cat, and Lovely the bunny. Amanda also fosters and trains one rescue dog at a time to adopt out through Pasadena Pet Motel. Training Sessions
- Private Lesson - $45
A private lesson is an hour of one-on-one training with your best friend. The lesson can be used to learn traditional obedience, tackle problem behavior, work on manners, or to learn some fun new tricks and games! Private lessons are available in your home, on site at Pasadena Pet Motel, or out on the town, depending on you and your best friend’s needs. (After purchasing 5 private lessons, you and your best friend earn a half day of day care or $15 off your next lesson)
- Play and Train Package - $60
This package offers your best friend a day of supervised socialization at the Pasadena Pet Motel with an hour’s worth of one-on-one training sessions throughout the day. Drop off your best friend as early as 7:30 am and pick them up by 5:45 pm. Your best friend will come home trained and tired! (This package saves $10 on regularly priced daycare and a private lesson)
- Doggy Day School - $550
Doggy Day School is 2 week program with 10 days for your best friend to play and train. Your best friend will be dropped off each morning and picked up each evening, Monday through Friday. Your best friend will participate in supervised socialization and an hour’s worth of one-on-one training sessions each day. Your best friend will have regular homework for you to practice on the nights and weekend, as well as regular report cards to share their progress! (Graduates earn a free half day of daycare or $15 off a private lesson.)
- Doggy Sleep Away Camp - $650
Doggy Sleep Away Camp is the same as Doggy Day School, except your best friend spends his or her evenings and weekends relaxing in a private run at the Pasadena Pet Motel. Doggy Sleep Away Camp offers consistency over the course of the training so your best friend isn’t tempted to slip back into old habits at home. Doggy Sleep Away Camp includes a brief follow up consultation and homework to help your best friend keep up the good work! (Graduates earn a free half day of daycare or $15 off a private lesson.)
